Religion of Laos:

Thai áàò and US dollars are accepted for payment everywhere, especially - in cities. The currency can be exchanged in exchange offices, at the airport and in banks, but many banks work only with US dollars or Thai batam.

Credit cards of leading international systems accept for payment in big banks, at capital restaurants, hotels and shops. In a province to use them it is almost impossible. Trevel-checks can be cashed only at offices of the international banks.

Customs restrictions:

Import and foreign currency export is not limited (the sum over $2000 in cash or trevel-checks should be shown customs officials at crossing of border and is declared). Import and export of national currency is forbidden.

Duty-free import from the countries which do not have the general borders with Laos is resolved: cigarettes - to 500 pieces, or 100 cigars or 500 g tobacco, strong alcoholic drinks - 1 bottle of wine - to 2 bottles, personal jewelry - to 500 g.

Import of the weapon, explosive, poisoning and inflammable substances, and also narcotic preparations and means for their manufacturing is forbidden. Export of subjects of art and the olden time, being national property, images of the Buddha (souvenir variants are resolved to export only), weapon, explosive, and also poisoning and inflammable substances, narcotics and means for their manufacture is forbidden.
