Economy of Butane

The first data on Butane delivered to Europeans the Portuguese missionaries of Ishtivan Kashella and Zhuan Kabral in 1626. The first official contacts between Great Britain and Butane go back to 1772. Then раджа Heaps-bihara has addressed to Englishmen for the help after бутанцы have intruded in its princedom and have made attacks to Assam and Bengal. The Governor general of India Warren Hastings has sent good-will mission in Butane in 1774. In the same year Scot Bogl the first has crossed Butane, to its example Englishman Turner in 1783 has followed. English officer Robert Pemberton has spent the first expedition on Butane studying in 1838. The English East Indian company to which managed to extend the management to Assam after loss of the positions in Burma, has joined in conflicts between ассамцами and бутанцами. The Sinchulsky contract concluded in 1865, has defined norms of relations of Butane with the British government. Butane has reconciled with territorial losses in exchange for the annual monetary grant at a rate of 50 thousand Rupees. The given sum has been doubled in 1910 when Butane has agreed to an establishment of the British control over foreign policy instead of the promise received from outside to Great Britain not to interfere with country internal affairs. These principles of mutual relations have been confirmed subsequently by India which in 1949 has signed the friendship treaty with Butane. The sum of the annual grant paid to kingdom, has been increased to 500 thousand rupees. In 1988 king has approved «the behaviour code», consisting mainly in easing of influence of ethnic Nepaleses, adherents индуизма, in the south of the country. In 1990 antiroyal demonstrations which were headed by group of the Nepaleses supported by the left forces from Assam and West Bengal have taken place. The territory of Nepal remains poorly studied, a source of the information on this country are materials of English expedition under the direction of John-Claude Uajta (1914). Entrance of Europeans to Butane has been officially resolved only in 1974.
